The tool does quite explicitly warn you, but it’s definitely worth noting again that the drive will be entirely erased during this process, so rescue anything from it first that you don’t want to lose permanently.Īnyway, once you’re good to go, just hit continue and the rest of the process happens automatically. You’ll then see it appear as shown below, with its current label in place of the name of my drive. You’ll just need to insert your USB drive into a spare USB port on your Mac, which must have at least 1GB of free space to work with.

Creating The Recovery DriveĮssentially, there are only two steps here. Once you’ve hit agree (if you actually agree of course, but I’ll assume you do), then the application will open, and you begin the painlessly quick process of creating your recovery disk. Next, the installation will begin, and as is customary in such circumstances, you’ll first need to agree to the terms and conditions.
